Welcome

With 38 000 students, 17 faculties and more than 400 programs at graduate and undergraduate levels, Université Laval is an important Canadian research university, with more than 130 research teams and centres and research income in excess of 235 millions dollars a year (2005).

Université Laval is an important university in Québec and Canada, open to the world. Indeed, about 4 000 students of foreign origins and coming from 86 countries are enrolled in our programs. We have established 550 partnerships with universities in 60 coutries, and close to 15% of our students profit from our international mobility programs by studying abroad.

Université Laval also offers numerous resources to help you reach your educational goals and achieve your preparation for your professional life. These include a competent and dynamic teaching staff, a devoted support staff, a library of over four million documents, access to new technologies, a large sports complex and the best employment counseling service amongst Canadian universities.

Your decision to study at Université Laval will help you follow the steps of more than two hundred thousand graduates whose abilities are recognized in all fields of activity in our country and worldwide.

Choosing Université Laval also means living for a while in Québec City, the capital of the Province of Québec and a UNESCO World Heritage Treasure. The oldest fortified city in North America, Québec City celebrates this year its quadricentennial anniversary under the theme 'Meetings and Encounters".

Québec is also a city of culture and sports located at the foot of the Laurentian Mountains, overlooking the magnificent St. Lawrence River. I sincerely wish you a heartful welcome here and successful stay on our campus.
